Terms of Service

These terms apply when you use MailVet (https://mailvet.dev), including the free lookup pages, the API and paid plans. By using the service you agree to them. MailVet is operated by Younes Outerbah, an individual (sole proprietor), who also runs Mentioned (mentioned.click); that is why our contact address is on mentioned.click.

What the service does

MailVet checks email addresses: whether the format is valid, whether the domain can receive mail (its MX or address records), whether the domain is a known disposable (throwaway) email service, and whether the address is a role address such as info@. You use it through free lookup pages and, with an API key, through the API.

We do not send email to the addresses you check and we do not connect to their mail servers.

Results are signals, not guarantees

A check reflects public DNS and our disposable-domain list at the moment it runs. DNS can change or fail, new disposable domains appear, and a valid result does not prove a mailbox exists or that a person owns it.

MailVet does not guarantee that every disposable or invalid address is caught, or that no valid address is flagged. You decide what to do with a result.

Plans and prices

  • Free: 100 checks per month, $0.
  • Starter: 5,000 checks per month, $19 per month.
  • Growth: 25,000 checks per month, $49 per month.
  • Scale: 100,000 checks per month, $99 per month.

Prices are in US dollars; Paddle adds VAT or sales tax where it applies. When you reach your plan's monthly checks, further API calls are refused until the next month or until you upgrade.

Payments and Merchant of Record

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Paddle handles payments, billing, VAT and other sales taxes, and invoices for every purchase. Your payment details are given to Paddle, not to us. Paddle's own buyer terms also apply to your purchase.

For questions about the product itself, email us at hello@mentioned.click.

Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation

  • Paid plans include a monthly number of checks, are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically each month until cancelled. Unused checks do not roll over.
  • You can cancel at any time from the billing page in your dashboard ("Manage subscription"), which opens the Paddle billing portal, or by emailing us.
  • Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access to the paid plan until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • We may change prices for future billing periods. We will tell you by email before a change applies to you.

Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

Your account

Keep your password and API keys secret; you are responsible for activity on your account and keys. Call the API from your server, not from a browser, where a key would be exposed. Revoke a key from your dashboard if it leaks. Give us an email address you can receive mail at, because we use it for billing notices and account security.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • create several accounts or keys to get around plan limits or rate limits;
  • check addresses you have no lawful reason to process, or use results to send unsolicited email;
  • attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the service or its infrastructure;
  • resell the API or bulk-download our disposable-domain data as a competing list.

We may limit, suspend or close accounts and keys that break these rules, without a refund for the current period.

Your content and our service

You keep the rights to the addresses and other data you submit. You give us permission to use them only to run the checks you ask for.

MailVet's software and design remain ours. The disposable-domain list is based on the open disposable-email-domains project (CC0).

Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available but do not promise uninterrupted operation. DNS servers we query may be slow or unavailable. We may change or discontinue features; if we discontinue a paid plan, we will give notice and stop billing for it.

Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, or for decisions you make based on a check result.

Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Your rights as a consumer

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away the protections the law of your own country gives you.

Changes to these terms and contact

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; for material changes we will tell account holders by email before they apply.
